Of necessity, virtue and so, the big brands - fashion and otherwise -, forced to temporarily stop production due to the Coronavirus emergency, refuse to sit idle and decide to convert their factories into the production of devices for individual protection. Giorgio Armani, the King, led the way and, fortunately, many followed his example. Many big names have chosen - courageously - to put their interests aside to produce goods of extreme necessity and not easily available, such as disposable gowns, masks and sanitizing gels. All - obviously - donated on a non-profit basis.
Havaianas: from flip-flops to hospital shoes
Alpargatas, the parent company of Havaianas, a Brazilian brand famous all over the world for the production of flip-flops, has set up a "Goodwill Partnership" to create a network of volunteers and partners who want to give their contribution in the fight against COVID-19. The company, which has temporarily opted for a conversion of the Havaianas factories, will produce 250,000 N95 masks to be donated to the health personnel of the hospitals located in those same Brazilian states where the company's industries are located. But that's not all, Havaianas, in fact, temporarily stops the production of the iconic flip flops to focus on the creation of 18,000 shoes to donate to doctors and nurses working on the front lines in São Paulo hospitals.

In a situation of extreme need, great examples of Made in Italy are also mobilized and join forces in the name of solidarity. Thus was born the collaboration between Inglesina Baby Spa, a leading Italian company in the production of items for children, and Creazioni Mario, an atelier specializing in the production of textile products for over thirty years. Their productive reconversion project is aimed at the creation of over 3,000 masks a day to be distributed within the Vicenza area, among health workers, members of civil protection, law enforcement and employees in public offices. In doing so, the two entrepreneurial realities respond in a concrete way to the needs of all those who have contributed to making them a “brand” known all over the world.
MY CLEAN MED: the sanitizing gel introduced by SIC
And a special mention also goes to SIC, the Italian Cosmetics Society, which, through the HAIRMED and SKIN brands, has taken action since 23 March to convert its vehicles into the production of sanitizing gel. Thanks to the zeal and tireless industriousness of these companies, 100,000 pieces a week were produced. SIC then launched the MY CLEAN MED hand-washing gel on the market, an asset - now more than ever - indispensable, considering the hygiene-sanitary standards to which we all must strictly comply. The company immediately took care to distribute - free of charge - large quantities to the Carabinieri Command of Casatenovo and Merate, to the Italian Red Cross of Airuno, to the Lomagna Traffic Police, to the Municipality of Lomagna and Valletta Brianza, and to retirement homes for the elderly. of the area.
