What is the cervical and why it comes

Cervical pain, or cervicalgia, as it would be more correct to call it, is a painful inflammation of the area between the neck, the trapezius, the shoulders and the head, that is the portion of muscles that go from the C1 to C7 vertebrae. It manifests itself with rigidity. , difficulty in performing even small movements, headache, dizziness and, sometimes, even nausea.

This painful inflammation of the cervical spine can appear suddenly, perhaps after taking a cold or sleeping in the wrong position; it causes a strong muscle stiffening that must be treated with the aim of reducing arthrosis and dissolving contractures. There are many causes that can lead to neck pain, however the most common are:

  • an incorrect posture of the shoulders and neck which causes arthrosis in the joints.
  • a wrong lifestyle which, if continued over time, causes serious damage to the shoulders and neck bones.
  • a sudden blast of cold or wind that exacerbates an "inflammation already in place.
  • severe muscle stiffness.
  • tensions and contractures in the trapezius and shoulders.
  • physical and mental stress.

How to cure the cervical with grandmother's remedies

Neck pain is a painful but, fortunately, temporary inflammation. This means that if it is treated in the right way it spontaneously regresses without having to take drugs or anti-inflammatories. When you get stuck or feel a strong tension in the neck area, the first thing to do is not to force yourself to move the painful area. Instead, it is better to observe a period of rest at least until the acute phase of inflammation begins to subside. Then, it is necessary to release the tensions that weigh on the muscles in order to gradually recover the mobility of the stretch between the shoulder joint and that of the neck. Finally, you can try to implement one of these effective grandmother's remedies:

MASSAGE WITH ESSENTIAL OILS

Performing a micro massage with specific essential oils can help to relieve the cervical inflammation. Arnica oil or rosemary oil are perfect because they also have a warming action, or you can create a specific mix made up of various oils. In this case, just mix 5 drops of basil essential oil with 10 drops of rosemary oil and two of lavender; then dilute the mixture with 30 ml of neutral vegetable oil and apply to the painful area by performing a long decontracting massage. Finally, wrap your shoulders and neck with a warm cloth and stay still for a few minutes.

USE A SEED PILLOW

Pillows made with seeds (hazelnut or other) are very useful because they can be heated in the oven or in the microwave. Then just apply them on the inflamed area and remain motionless for a few minutes to absorb the heat. If you don't have a seed pillow, even a simple towel dipped in boiling water will do the trick.

GEL ALL "ARNICA

If the inflammation is in the acute phase (that is, if the pain is intense and we cannot move the neck), instead of using heat it is much more useful to apply a cold arnica gel in order to relieve the joint. Alternatively, applying an ice pack can also be a good idea.

EPSOM SALTS

An ancient grandmother's remedy that is very effective for loosening the muscles of the cervical area when it is contracted are Epsom salts. These are none other than magnesium sulfate grains, a natural treatment known since ancient times. Epsom salts relax muscles and help reduce inflammation. They are used by dissolving them in hot water and soaking up to the neck, however they should only be used after asking your doctor for advice.
