Jug purifies water: what is it and how does it work?
The water purifier jug is a particular jug, in plastic or glass, which has the task of filtering running tap water, reducing its degree of hardness and eliminating substances potentially harmful to our body, such as limestone, cause of kidney stones.
The operation of these jugs is simple: the water poured inside comes into contact with the special filter cartridge which acts by eliminating micro-plastics, chlorine, limestone and heavy metal particles. On average, a filter cartridge has a duration of 1 month, after which it must necessarily be replaced. In many jugs there is a display on the lid which indicates when the effectiveness of the filter is about to end.
The filters on the market are mainly of two types: with activated carbon and with ion exchange resins. In the case of an activated carbon filter these absorb the harmful substances, instead if the filter is ion exchange, it is the particular resin present that replaces the harmful substances with harmless agents (for example magnesium).
