A selfie and a traveling campaign to raise awareness on ovarian cancer
There is little talk, too little, but ovarian cancer affects about 250,000 women worldwide, with a 5-year mortality of 50%. In our country, about 37,000 women live with this cancer and about 5,000 new cases are diagnosed each year.
Despite these numbers, according to a survey promoted by ACTO onlus - Alliance against Ovarian Cancer, 6 out of 10 women in Italy do not know this disease and 70% do not know how to indicate the symptoms and the tests to undergo.
That is why, to promote more information and awareness, ACTO onlus is launching Energy shots - Together against ovarian cancer, a traveling national awareness campaign created with the support of Roche, a leader in research in Oncology.
The first stop is in Piazza Cordusio, in Milan, where you will find an open air exhibition with the ten portraits of famous people - including Emma Marrone, Lorella Cuccarini and Paola Perego - who have agreed to be photographed by the photographer of the stars Dirk Vogel, showing an awareness message on ovarian cancer.
But you too can participate in the campaign. Like? Through the Facebook page of the initiative where you can upload a selfie accompanied by a message aimed at informing all women about the importance of knowing the symptoms of this disease, not neglecting them and undergoing regular gynecological examinations.
