Armani's courageous choice to help healthcare professionals
King George strikes again. Yes, after having donated one million and 250 thousand euros to the hospitals Luigi Sacco, San Raffaele, Istituto dei Tumori in Milan, Spallanzani in Rome and to the civil protection department, the Italian designer realizes that, as the Morandi-Tozzi trio sang- Ruggeri, “you can give more”.
And so Giorgio puts his hand to his wallet again and makes a new donation, this time destined for the hospitals of Bergamo, Piacenza and Versilia. But man's generosity does not end there. The Armani entrepreneur, aware of the means at his disposal, makes a courageous choice and decides to convert the production plants in Trento, Carrè, Matelica and Settimo into the production of disposable coats to be distributed to health workers, lined up in the front row in the battle against the Coronavirus. So, for the moment, no longer noble clothes, but overalls for the individual protection of those who, every day, leave their homes to go and save lives.
Armani model: elegance on and off the catwalks
Giorgio Armani even took the time to spend a few words in favor of the healthcare staff, to whom he dedicates a letter in which he expresses all his solidarity and esteem. “I am personally close to you”, writes the designer who dreamed of becoming a doctor and, before embarking on the path of fashion, had even begun to attend medical school. We are sure he would have been an exceptional doctor.
Here, then, is what we mean when we say "Made in Italy" to be proud of in the world.
