6th week of pregnancy for mom and baby - 2nd month of pregnancy
Mother's health
Your gynecologist (or your obstetrician) pays attention to some medical "parameters". In addition to having tests done (blood samples, ultrasound ...), it is also important to monitor other clinical data, starting with the weight.
Your doctor will also monitor your blood pressure - in pregnant women it drops slightly. Normal blood pressure values in pregnancy are 70 to 90 for the lowest, and 120 to 140 for the highest.

The 6th week of a baby's life: all there is to knowThe total volume of blood increases from 4 to 5 liters, and can reach 6 liters in the last period of pregnancy. Your kidneys are a filter for the blood and work harder. During the next nine months, you will often do urinalysis, to monitor any traces of protein.
The development of the child
The embryo measures about 15 millimeters in length. A sketch of the spinal column appears. During this second month of pregnancy, other organs also begin to form: the digestive system develops progressively, with the esophagus, the pancreas (in the center of the "abdomen) and the liver, which will become the largest digestive organ.
It develops that network of blood vessels. At this stage, a sketch of the sex glands may already appear, but it is still impossible to identify the sex of the embryo.
Our advice
Take care of your teeth
During pregnancy, it is normal to suffer from gingivitis.
Here are the symptoms of gingivitis gravidarum: redness of the gums, abscesses, tendency to bleed.
It happens in 25% of pregnant women, especially before the fifth month of pregnancy.
So don't worry! The causes? The fragility of the mucous membranes of the mouth and hormonal upheavals. This disorder disappears immediately after delivery.
Be careful when brushing your teeth: brush them at least three times a day, as tartar buildup accentuates bleeding. If the problem persists, go to the dentist! According to doctors, severe gingivitis could also lead to premature birth. Beware of cavities: they can cause infections! And bacteria can pass into the blood and pose a danger to the fetus!
