4th Trimester Bodies: the photographic project that celebrates the beauty of mothers' bodies

How was the project born?
In 2012, I discovered that the twins I was carrying were suffering from a rare uterine syndrome. Little Aurora, sadly, couldn't make it, while Nova was born at just 24 weeks. Besides being saddened by the loss of Aurora and worried about Nova, I found it particularly difficult to accept my body. I realized that there are so many women who, like me, feel or have felt uncomfortable. We women are prepared for the changes that occur during pregnancy, but scars, stretch marks, everything that remains afterwards does not always come We live in a society obsessed with perfection: the aim of this project is to put the spotlight on real beauty, the one that characterizes every woman, with her perfect flaws and her beautiful imperfections.

There are already hundreds of shots that Ashlee has taken, below we propose some of them, starting from the one that started the project itself and which portrays her together with the little Nova.

The project is having such a success that the shootings are also arriving at an international level. Participating is simple, for more information you can visit the official website of Ashlee Wells Jackson and The 4th Ttrimester Bodies project.

Why participate? One of the mothers portrayed said: "Because I am a woman, a mother. Because I was raised by a woman who is a mother. Because all mothers, everywhere, have had difficult times, because we must learn to love our bodies, they are the ones we have and watch they do, what they are able to create! It is essential to learn to love ourselves, because only in this way can we love our neighbor ".

Below we also leave you the video presentation of the project, in which Ashlee explains what we have reported above.
