Choose your favorite shades of brown

Remember, brown is a very versatile color that comes in many other colors, choose your favorites which can also be bronze, beige, biscuit ...

For a perfect smokey eyes prefer opaque colors avoiding glitter, in fact the elegance and versatility of this makeup also lie in the fact that it does not require the use of bright colors.

Prepare everything you need for makeup

  • On the market there are makeup palettes already declined by color: the ones that are the most popular are the nude which include, among others, many shades of brown. The first thing you should get is one of these palettes, but single eyeshadows are fine too.

> Zoeva nude warm colors palette for € 19.90

  • Even cream or loose powder eyeshadows could prove to be a valid alternative: the former are very writing and used as a base, they help to bring out the powder eyeshadows applied on top. The latter, on the other hand, are very easy to blend and therefore perfect for beginners.
  • If you want to intensify the look, also foresee the use of a black eyeliner.
  • Prepare the base of the eye with a specific primer that will make the eyeshadows more blendable and make them last all day.
  • Prepare at least two types of brushes: one with flat and rounded soft bristles to spread the eyeshadow on the mobile eyelid, the other with longer and conical bristles to blend well into the eye and blend the colors together.
  • Make-up remover and cotton swabs may be needed to correct minor oversights or smudges.

Step 1 - Take care of the face base

After cleansing the face, even out the complexion with a foundation, if you are not used to using it, a more subtle and natural effect bb cream will also be fine.

Illuminate the strategic points of the face, while with the help of an earth sculpt the sides of the face and the area of the forehead near the hairline. This technique is called contouring.

Correct dark circles with a specific product for the eye contour and finally fix everything with a transparent powder. As a finishing touch, apply a blush on the cheeks.

2 - Apply the eyeshadows

After finishing the base, move on to eye makeup. First apply the eye primer (buy the one from Wet "n" Wild for € 9 on Amazon) and blend it all over the eyelid making it absorb.

Then take a light color such as cream, ivory or vanilla and spread it under the browbone as well as in the inner corner of the eye.

Now imagine dividing the mobile eyelid into 3 small areas:

  • near the inner corner of the eye you will apply the lighter brown.
  • in the center you will proceed with the medium tone up to the natural crease of the eye; not further, also because later with the gradient, you will raise the color a little.
  • in the outer corner of the eye you will apply dark brown; for this operation and to avoid going beyond the natural boundaries of the eye, imagine a line that joins the outer corner with the end of the eyebrow: that will be the border not to be crossed.

Now it's time to blend, you have to try to make the gaps between the colors less clear and you can do it with a blending brush or with your fingers. Keep in mind that with the brush you will be able to be more precise.

3 - Finish the eye make-up

At this point the brown smokey eyes would be complete, it's up to you to decide whether to apply a line of eyeliner too. Keep in mind that in itself it is already a very intense makeup, so the advice we give you is to use the eyeliner if you have to show off brown smokey eyes at an evening event.

Draw a line with a final tail that will lengthen the eyes, making the gaze open and possibly correcting the defect of the eyes too close together.

Apply mascara on the lashes, do at least 2 coats or for very special occasions, use a pair of false lashes.

When you make smokey eyes, using rather dark colors, it could happen that the area around the eyes gets dirty with some residue. To remedy this, use a generous amount of powder which you will then brush off with a large brush.

Final tips

Smokey eyes is an easy makeup to make, just get carried away and work out. One of the tips we would like to give you is not to overdo it, or rather not to apply a large amount of eyeshadow right away because it will then be impossible to remove.

Take a little eyeshadow at a time and proceed to apply and intensify it to the degree you prefer.

If smokey eyes and makeup in general are your passion, consider making an investment and buy high quality eyeshadows and brushes that will allow you to achieve professional results.
