She feels the heart of her dead son beating in the chest of another child after the transplant: "As if we were there, together"
Heather Clark's life wasn't a walk in the park. She is 25 years old and her son Lukas passed away in 2013, just 7 months old, due to complications following an alleged violence. Today, after about 3 years, Heather could hear her baby's heart beating in the chest of 4-year-old Jordan Drake.
Heather Clark met Esther Gonzalez and her daughter Jordan on a Friday morning and, when she finally felt the heart of her little Lukas, she felt an "indescribable emotion:"It was as if we were together again, it continues to live in her'.
The woman admitted that signing the documents was not easy at all because, once done, it would mean that her Lukas would be gone forever. However, she decided to give life to other people and, when she met Jordan, she realized that she had made the best choice.
Heather and Jordan's mother have been writing to each other for about a year with the intention of organizing a meeting. The donation is anonymous and it was not easy to get in touch. When this happened, however, both women felt the need. to get to know each other and to thank each other: Jordan had the chance to live and Lukas, even if wrapped in an aura of sadness, had the chance to live again.
Jordan was born with a mitral valve malformation and this necessitated a new heart. Esther realizes that Heather's decision must have been very difficult and, for this very reason, she intends to tell everything to Jordan so that the memory of little Lukas is never lost.
