Risk for the language of foreign children in Italy
There is a lot of talk about integration, but moving from theory to facts is not always easy. This was also highlighted during the last European Day dedicated to multilingualism, organized by the European Speech Therapy Committee. In fact, it seems that some language problems have been encountered in foreign children who are growing up in Italy.
Out of 300,000 children between the ages of 6 and 12, as many as 20,000 would need a visit to the speech therapist. Many cases are mistaken as a simple difficulty in learning our language, but in reality it would be necessary to deepen. What is the alarm bell? It takes at least two years to be able to converse in a new language, but if you haven't learned a word after six months, maybe something is wrong. So it's important to pay attention!
