How is a foot bath done?

The foot bath is a treatment with ancient origins, which has always been used to free oneself from tension and fatigue. What is it about? Simply by placing the feet in a basin filled with lukewarm water, in which different ingredients are then added, based on the benefit we want to derive from it.

Making a foot bath is very simple, as you will have understood, and basically consists of three steps. The first is that of soaking, in which the feet are left to soak - in fact - in the water of the basin, in which you will have placed the necessary ingredients, which we will see later in our recipes. The duration of the soaking phase is about a quarter of an hour / twenty minutes.

The second phase is that of the scrub, actually optional, but which can be very useful to make the skin smoother and softer. It consists in massaging a scrub product (which can be made, for example, with cane sugar or with coffee residues) on hard areas, especially in the presence of corns and calluses.

Finally, the rinsing phase: the feet should be rinsed, dried and then hydrated with a special, nourishing and emollient cream.

For a foot bath to be perfectly successful, avoid using water that is too hot which could damage the skin or dry it. Then, essential oils of lavender or chamomile can be added to the water in the foot bath for a relaxing effect. You can also use stones to be placed on the bottom of the basin to be able to rest the soles of the feet and get a real massage through pressure. Finally, to promote circulation, you can use a ball on which to slide your foot while it is soaking.
