Beach wedding: how to organize a sea themed wedding
A beach wedding can be really romantic, but it requires the right organization to make sure everything runs smoothly! Celebrating your wedding by the sea, with a wedding dress right for the occasion and an entire location designed with a sea theme, may not be easy without a wedding planner, but with our tips, ideas and advice, you can get started to guide you to transform your beach wedding into an unforgettable event!
Sea-themed wedding, including shells and starfish
A beach wedding, to be truly beautiful and elegant, cannot be limited to a ceremony by the sea: the whole setting - from the different locations to the wedding favors to the wedding dress, up to the wedding cake - must resume the sea theme in uniform and harmonious way.
Depending on the taste of the couple, shells, starfish, corals, pearls, sand, boats, seahorses, lighthouses or more can be chosen as decorative elements for the location. The important thing is that the sea theme reigns everywhere!
Even the colors chosen for the different locations (especially for the reception tables) should recall the colors and atmospheres of the sea: green light therefore to white, sand, blue, light blue, turquoise, coral. A wedding planner will be able to advise you on the best combinations, from more daring combinations and nuance games. The last word, of course, to the spouses: it is their taste that counts!
The sea theme should begin to appear already in the invitations you send: the guests will understand from the first moment what the theme of the wedding is to adjust accordingly. Again you can choose cards with decorative elements such as shells or starfish and / or play with colors once again.
Always to stay on topic, choose a tableau mariage that talks about your passion for the sea: you can give each table the name of a marine location or a beach that you spouses have particularly loved, the name of a sea or a " island, the name of a sea creature (from seahorse to mermaids!) and so on.
Let's not forget the favors, also themed on the sea! Some examples of marine wedding favors? Sea bath salts, shell-shaped soaps, succulents or candles always decorated with shells, starfish-shaped cookies and so on and so forth ... Finally, even the cake must be sea-themed! To organize a wedding on the beach, the location by the sea must be set up in the best possible way, where the ceremony will take place. Generally, for weddings on the beach, wooden pergolas or floral arches are used, while the chairs are chosen in light or neutral colors, close to those of the sand.
If the wedding on the beach will take place in the very romantic hour of sunset, with its splendid colors, it will be good to set up the location with candles or lanterns to create a path that accompanies the spouses and guests.Another element widely used to set up wedding locations by the sea are large, white cushions, which will immediately create a somewhat informal "atmosphere", particularly suitable for lounge areas, where you can cool off with a drink.
If you have thought of organizing the wedding on the beach, you must be well aware of the unknown weather ... It's not a problem! The important thing is to always have a plan B in place: a replacement location in case it starts to rain. You can very well solve the situation by resorting to tensile structures to create gazebos by the sea: setting up the banquet area under one or more gazebos will also be useful for sheltering guests from any sun, heat or evening wind.
How to prepare guests for a ceremony by the sea
As we anticipated, it is good that the guests know right from the invitations that it will be a wedding on the beach, so that they can understand the mood, and maybe avoid the stiletto heels on the sand! A wedding by the sea allows for a slightly "more" free "and whimsical look, in harmony with the cheerful and romantic summer atmosphere that you spouses want to evoke.
To make guests feel more at ease, you can welcome them with welcome gifts such as straw flip-flops, a spray against mosquitoes, colored fans. Also be careful to avoid rush hours if you want to get married on the beach: you will avoid sunstroke and redness ... Avoid the time slot between 11 and early afternoon. Also, immediately plan for lounge areas where you can offer refreshing drinks at any time.
Getting married on the beach: ceremony and celebrations
Getting married on the beach is only possible with the civil ceremony, unfortunately, not with the religious one. The Church, in fact, allows weddings only in consecrated places. The beach, on the other hand, can be a perfect location for a civil wedding or even just for a symbolic wedding: maybe you have already married in common with a few close friends and you want to repeat your promises in front of everyone, to celebrate together by the sea.
The civil (or symbolic) wedding involves a ceremony that is generally not too long, followed by the wedding banquet. Attention: since it is a seaside location and a presumably summer period (or in any case a climate), it will be good that the courses are chic, elegant, but also light, summer, better - of course - if based on fish. And after midnight, everyone to bathe, including the newlyweds!
How to dress for a beach wedding?
Last but not least: how to dress for a beach wedding? The wedding dress for such an occasion must not be too fluffy or full of trains: a wedding on the beach requires lightness, dresses with simple lines, with a boho-chic inspiration.
The preferred fabrics are the more ethereal ones such as tulle or silk, the colors are those of white or pastel, with splendid jewel sandals to match, and perhaps some decorative element that once again recalls the sea theme. The groom can dare a light color, perhaps a white or cream-colored linen suit. Happy birthday to you!
