The mother of a child with Down syndrome writes a letter to the doctor who advised her to have an abortion
In one of the moments of maximum sensitivity and anxiety for a future new mother, Courtney Baker had this advice from her doctor, during a visit: to abort, because in her womb a girl with Down syndrome was growing up. "I came to you during the most difficult time of my life - Courtney writes - I was terrified, anxious, in total despair. I still didn't know the truth about my baby, so I was trying to find out from you. Instead of support and encouragement, you suggested that I have an abortion". Amid a thousand fears and despondencies, she has decided to ignore that advice and to give birth to the wonderful Emersyn."The hardest time in my life was made almost unlivable because you never told me the truth. My little girl was perfect"So writes Emmy's mother in the letter published on the Facebook page of the Parker Myles association.

This very brave mother is not angry and underlines it: "I'm not angry. I am not embittered. I'm just sad. - Courtney continues - I'm sad that the tiny hearts you see every day don't fill you with wonder. I'm sad that the intertwining and miracle of those sweet little fingers, lungs, eyes and ears doesn't always make you hesitate. I'm sad that you were so wrong in saying that a child with Down syndrome could lower the quality of our life. And my heart is broken at the thought that you can say it again today, to another "mother." But most of all, I am sad that you will never have the privilege of meeting my daughter, Emersyn". Because the truth is that she, with her smile, enlightens everyone, look at her:

Emmy's mom offers the doctor a real prayer for the future of all the other mothers: "My prayer is that no other mom will experience what I have. My hope is that you too will be able to see the beauty and pure love in every ultrasound. And my prayer is that when you see the next baby with Down syndrome softly cuddled in her mother's womb, you can look at that woman, remember me and say, "Your baby is absolutely perfect."". On the other hand, it is from the little things that we deeply understand the miracle of life. Look how good this puppy is:
