Vaginal secretions
What are vaginal secretions used for?
Vaginal secretions, also called white discharge, are absolutely normal in women. Light or milky in color, they are usually odorless and painless. The quantity and color vary according to the menstrual cycle: they are more abundant during the pre-menstrual period and decrease after menstruation. This is how the body cleanses the vagina to eliminate impurities and dead cells. This is why it is useless to do vaginal douches with soap and water: the inside of your genitals cleans itself!
Symptoms of infection
White discharge can be symptomatic of a "vaginal infection due to a fungus, bacterium, or (more rarely) parasite. That's why you need to check them regularly."
If they become too abundant, give off a strong odor, if they burn, irritate and cause itching, you may have contracted an "infection. Don't panic: one in ten women, at least once in her life, suffers from a" vaginal infection. This, however, does not mean that you can neglect them! Make an appointment with your gynecologist immediately. He will give you the necessary tests and, based on the results, he will prescribe a treatment, usually in the form of eggs to be inserted into the vagina in the evening for a few days.
If you have had unprotected sex, you need to point this out. In this case, you will do specific tests, as it could be a sexually transmitted disease.

Vaginal secretions and sexuality
Vaginal discharge becomes thicker when you have sex. In fact, even if a woman does not have an ejaculation like a man, her body reacts to arousal: the vagina becomes moist. These vaginal secretions, produced by the Bartholin's glands (located in the posterior part of the labia majora), are more or less abundant according to the degree of arousal and intensity of pleasure.
