The foil
It is a very healthy cooking method, therefore, but not always easy to control: what is the cooking time? How do you make foods tastier? Is it better to use baking paper or aluminum?
Here are our tips to prepare delicious dishes, and to make your packets a success!
What foods?
Who says foil, says steaming. This cooking method is suitable for all types of food: fish, of course, but also all meats, vegetables, starchy foods and fruit. You can also cook products frozen. You don't even need to defrost them before cooking!
How to prepare your parcels
Start by cutting the food into small pieces so they cook more quickly.
Think of marinades, which are ideal for making tasty and tasty foods.
First of all, do not forget that lemon juice "cooks" food: of course, it is ideal if you want to reduce cooking times, but you cannot let meat or vegetables marinate for many hours. Be aware, however, that the longer you leave the meat to marinate, the more fragrant it will be. If you like grilled meat, before passing it in foil, cook it in a pan for a few minutes. The same if you want to caramelize fruit or vegetables. As for the pasta, it is essential to cook it first: allow 3 minutes of cooking in boiling water.
What card to use?
In general, an aluminum foil is used to make the foil, solid, practical and suitable for cooking. But you can also choose baking paper.
Don't forget: baking in foil is based on the same principle as stews. The essential, therefore, is to cook your food in a airtight container. A pyrex dish with a lid will be perfect.
Attention: if you decide to cook your parcels in the microwave, do not use aluminum! The baking paper will be perfect.
How to prepare and close your bags
Is simple! Just know that each foil must correspond to a portion. Keep in mind, therefore, that you will need a piece of meat and / or a portion of vegetables or fruit in foil.
First of all you have to oil the paper. Then add the meat or fish and then the vegetables, seasoning and flavorings. Remember to season well your dishes: salt, pepper, spices, aromatic herbs etc. If you use aluminum foil, remember to put the foods on less shiny side, to avoid the risk of oxidation.
To make soft packets, add a drizzle of olive oil, or a couple of tablespoons of cream, lemon juice or marinade. If you want to cook poultry, which tends to dry out, you can add more liquid. But for other foods, do not overdo the liquids, the foil would risk getting punctured. Plus, you'd end up turning steaming into broth cooking.
In the end, seal your pouches tightly, otherwise the steam will not form. You can do this by simply folding the paper.
