What is thermalism?

Thermalism constitutes one natural therapy which, since ancient times, has only exploited the different components ofmineral spring water. Numerous types of treatments are practiced in the spas: showers, baths, mud baths, kinesiotherapy, insufflations, vaporizations, inhalations ...

Unlike thalassotherapy, thermalism is a therapy scientifically proven and is recognized by the World Health Organization and the National Health Service. Natural, harmless and without side effects, spa treatments are suitable for everyone, regardless of age.

What does it cure?

Thermalism is recommended in the treatment of chronic diseases, particularly if normal drug therapies are not sufficient to relieve the patient's pain, or are too severe. Thermal treatments are divided into 12 therapeutic addresses, depending on the characteristics of the water:

The benefits

The benefits of thermalism are numerous:

- Relieves pain: numerous pathologies can be alleviated thanks to a thermal treatment (allergies, asthma, arthrosis, rheumatism, depression, circulatory problems…).

- It reduces the use of drugs: thermalism offers an alternative to taking traditional drug treatments.

- Improve the psychological state: the patient moves away from his usual context and therefore both his quality of life and his psychological state improve.

- It improves the hygiene of life: the patient learns to live with his disease and to manage it independently.

Spa treatments, instructions for use

- Spa cure is prescribed by the attending physician, who chooses the most suitable spa for the patient (water composition, climate ...). In order for the therapy to be effective, they need at least three weeks.

- Before starting the treatment, the patient meets the plant doctor, who will prescribe the therapies (internal and external) to be carried out and will explain to him what they consist of.

- During the treatment, the patient will follow different types of therapies, depending on the address and the pathology, practiced by qualified personnel: hydrotherapists, physiotherapists, nurses ...

- The patient will meet again with the doctor of the establishment during and at the end of the spa treatment. In the two months following the end of the treatment, the patient will again have to consult their doctor in order to take stock of the evolution of the disease.

The new trends

In addition to the medical and therapeutic address, the spas promote thermal tourism by offering stays in shape, wellness, slimming or anti-stress, which last from 3 to 6 days.

In recent years, a new concept has also been born, the playful thermalism: some spas include wellness centers where customers have access to a thermal water pool, water courses, a sauna, whirlpools ...
